maylands - bus man smoke break
the 42 bus stops at the peninsula's dead-end. everyone has to get off the bus, even if they want the bus to loop around. this is so the bus driver can attend to his physiological needs such as taking a slash or eating a muesli bar or smoking a cigarette.
it is very quiet and peaceful here. you can hear the whispering of the great eastern highway. you can look at the glinting brownness of the swan river. you can look at the monuments commemorating the maylands aerodrome, or gaze up at the big blue tree to contemplate the issue of suicide.
i wonder if the bus driver ever gets restless legs. if i was driving a bus all day, i'd want to get out and run or jump around. maybe even scream. the peninsula is a good place to do it.
