maylands - chinese restaurant
here is a chinese restaurant in an ugly 1970s brick building. the building is somewhat interesting for having diagonal bricks. in bricklayer culture, diagonals are taboo.
when i first moved to maylands i got dinner with my dad here. tim came too. i dont know what we talked about.
theres a guy on instagram who reviews chinese restaurants. his food writing is the kind of writing not worth reading: "The standout dish was undoubtedly the Sweet & Sour Pork, a classic executed to near perfection. The fried rice, while perfectly acceptable, played a supporting role rather than stealing the show."
i like the idea that this reviewer thinks that his bland australian-chinese menu items are starring in a musical together. but i get the sense he is just using stock phrases, or better, ai.
what is more, he has scored his post with the song dracula by tame impala; a song as bland and flaccid as the chinese vegetables, the only non-meat dish on the menu.
