maylands - milk'd
there once was a cafe here called milk'd that was a small chain cafe with cool 2000s branding. it closed in 2020 and the shopfront has been empty ever since.
my tumultuous housemate lana rothnie would go here every day and write her song lyrics. she was registered under the NEIS as a sole trader of music and song and milk'd was her registered workplace.
in 2018 milk'd maylands uploaded this cryptic image to their facebook:
this caused a small stir in the facebook group "Angus, Thongs and NOT Snogging the UNperfect Patriarchy" who said it had sexist leanings. i agreed, but i didn't think it was right to embargo milk'd because of this. still, i never went there out of solidarity.
