maylands - suck city
next to bricklands is suck city, another "medium density housing development" that is just a blinding white driveway with ten boxy units that look out at each other. i hate looking at it because the unshaded whiteness hurts my eyes, but i quite liked drawing it. the boxes tesselate nicely with each other. like doing a sudoku, modern architecture is satisfying to draw because the only thing it requires is patience.
i think this is why all houses look like intersecting boxes now: because they were designed by all of us dumb cunts who cant draw very well. its not our fault. they dont teach technical drawing in art school and dont teach art in technical drawing school and if you do urban planning, forget aesthetics altogether.
