within the few weeks of the quails being alive, me and my brother talked about building a bigger safer cage for them right next to the house where they could be better looked after. my brother is a man of action and the next day we took his ute to bunnings and set about doing it. we built a magnificent walk-in cage, a cage bigger than most bedrooms, and the quails were going to live like queens. but the quails all got promptly slaughtered and we were left with a giant empty enclosure.
another tragedy was that we had had to destroy tim's wheatfield to set up the cage, but this is the sad cost of progress.
eventually when we held flopfest 2018 in this yard, the cage was used as a stage for an all star super-group jam band. a guy called billy on the drums, laurent (catwalk, didions bible) on electric guitar, alice manson (arrester bed) on acoustic, my brother john (44th sunset) on bass, danyon saxon (catwalk, fallen eyelash) on electric piano, ryan (cajun man from nola) on spoons, and mal measles (highschool) doing freestyle rap. is this interesting to you? maybe or probably not, but if you are a music scholar of the late 2010s perth dolewave you might be.
