maylands - rebecca, my kindly neighbour
after a year of living at kirkham, a woman named rebecca moved in next door. she was in her late 30s and unlike jeff, generally approved of everything we did.
one time she got locked out of her house so tim leaped like the prince of persia straight from our balcony to her balcony. later she knocked on my door and asked what wine we like. tim wasn't there so i said "tim drinks pink wine" knowing that tim would not like this one bit.
when she brought it over, and i showed it to tim, he said, aw what, pink wine is girls wine. ha ha ha.
i can't remember why, but one time she showed me the inside of her house. she'd finally decorated it the way she wanted. i saw she had an elliot smith record mounted to her wall. i thought this was cool, even though out of all the depressive indie singers, elliot is the only one i don't enjoy. but i liked that she liked a stark mumbly record enough to put on the wall instead of a painting. more people should do that.
